Giclée Printing and What It Means to the Artist

Giclée (pronounced Gee’clay) is a French term meaning to spray or squirt, which is how an inkjet printer works. However, it is not the same as a standard desktop inkjet printer, and is a much larger more detailed printer. Inks are archival certified and printed on archival paper for beautiful long lasting prints. Giclée is the best way to produce archival reproductions of fine art and photography. If treated properly, your giclée print will last a lifetime.

This new ability to sell reproductions of original art and photographs on different substrates has made giclées a very popular means for artists to leverage the time it took to create their original work and to offer it for sale at a more reasonable cost than the original -- thus generating more revenue and expanding their customer base.
